AN OVERVIEW

Since 1977, Clinica Campesina has provided exceptional health care to the low-income and uninsured residents of southeastern Boulder County, Broomfield County and western Adams County. Last year, our staff - which includes family physicians, a pediatrician, two OB/Gyns, a dentist, nurse practitioners and physician assistants - provided 23,960 people with 106,112 patient visits at our three medical facilities and one dental facility.

Our patients receive primary medical care that emphasizes prevention and health education. Specifically, Clinica's services include: prenatal, postpartum and obstetric care; gynecological care; immunizations; wellness visits throughout the life cycle; cancer screenings; acute care; chronic disease management; minor surgical procedures (e.g., colposcopies); case management and referral services; and in-patient hospitalization at Avista Adventist Hospital and St. Anthony's Hospital Central. Since approximately 45% of Clinica's patients speak only Spanish and almost 60% express themselves best in Spanish, almost all of our staff is bilingual. Written materials are available in both English and Spanish.

Currently, 85% of our staff are bilingual. By hiring appropriate staff, we can both improve our patients' experience at the clinic and use our resources more efficiently. All of our medical and front line personnel are bilingual and many are bicultural, which makes medical encounters more comfortable for Spanish-speaking patients. They understand what is happening in the exam room without needing to rely on an interpreter.
